Muskrat Making Waves

Muskrat generating waves, Boxborough, MA

We were walking in Boxborough by a brook that comes out of a beaver pond when we saw a muskrat by the shore. It climbed out briefly on a rock, perhaps to eat something. Then it got back in the water and started swimming toward us at a high rate of speed. In the bottom photo below, the waves generated by the muskrat have an amazing effect on the reflection on the surface of the water, creating a swirling pattern similar perhaps to an electric field.
